Red Velvet Australian Cobberdogs.

About Us.

Thanks for visiting our website! The team at Red Velvet Australian Cobberdogs Bert and Molly Nelson are a husband and wife team, this allows us to devote quite a lot of hands on time to our dogs.
Bert comes from a family of dog breeders, giving us access to incredible amounts of experience and resources in our lives to this point.
We were introduced to an Australian Cobberdog in 2013 and there was no coming back for us. We fell in love with the temperament of this breed with their intelligence, their desire to be with people and their happy, funny personalities. In early 2017 we registered as breeder members of the Master Dog Breeders & Associates (MDBA) and began breeding Australian Cobberdogs in early 2017.

We have a background in breeding Welsh Pembroke Corgis, continuing to do so until early 2022. We have set this venture aside, in the hands of other breeders. This way we can focus all of our time and energy on our Cobberdogs and our two sons.
We are located in a quiet rural setting, meaning our dogs have the freedom of wide open spaces to run and play. All of our dogs live as part of our family, socialising and interacting with other dogs and people from a very young age.

Our commitment is to breeding high-quality, healthy, predictable Australian Cobberdogs with excellent temperaments. We see it as our responsibility to breed and raise dogs that are the best possible pets that can also be suitable for therapy and assistance work.

We want to encourage more people to breed these amazing dogs and we are happy to share our knowledge with people who are interested in breeding Australian Cobberdogs.  We help new breeders understand what is involved in breeding and caring for this fantastic breed. If you purchase a breeding dog from us, we’re more than happy to help in any way that we can.

We have seen many benefits of living with Australian Cobberdogs.
Cobberdogs have little to no doggy smell, making them perfect for a life in your home. We have selected genetic lines that have almost zero shedding and coats that are easy to groom.

We grew up with dogs. Bert’s parents being dog breeders themselves, and the reason he was involved with Welsh Pembroke Corgis. Molly’s family always having pet dogs of all breeds.
We’re used to having dogs around us, but Cobberdogs have the unique ability to make you feel different.
They have excellent eye contact and they want to be with us rather than racing around being busy with other things, they make us feel that they love us and we are the most important thing in their lives. They seem to look at us and work out how we are feeling and then work out how they should respond to us.

We are in awe when our puppies are about 3 and half weeks old, and sitting up and actively seeking eye contact with us. At about 6 weeks some of them sit down and watch TV and watch us and look at us as we are walking around the room. They always want to know where we are without being “needy” puppies.

We have certainly discovered that sharing our life with this amazing breed is truly a blessing.
